The last month has been so exciting! I’ve included a few songs that I just LOVE to listen to in the summer, but I also included a few originals from some of my friends! All the songs I’ve chosen are ones that are dear to my heart; some are originals from Evynne’s upcoming musical, some are songs that perfectly capture the feeling of summer, and one video is one I had a lot of fun making this past month. I hope you enjoy them!

1.L-O-V-E

      Why you’ll love this:

In this Nat King Cole cover, Mat and Savanna Shaw are just lovely! Their interwoven harmonies carry the song, with each syllable spoken clearly and sweetly. Looking absolutely dashing, the two clearly have a lot of fun in this music video as they dance and exchange adoring glances. The two chose this song to share a little love in the world, and their harmonies paired with the plucky bass make for a fun and love-filled cover.

        2. Grow As We Go

            Why you’ll love this:

BYU's Noteworthy take on Ben’s Platt’s Grow As We Go is a lovely song about facing life's trials with the people you love. The voices of all the females mix into a cohesive sound, expressing the sentiment of standing by one other in times of need. The video shows how close the group is and have always been as they navigate the world together as they sing about the "ebbs and flows" of life.

              3. Red Is The Rose

                  Why you’ll love this:

As soon as Reilly's calm guitar begins to play, you immediately feel at ease. It's clear to see why he and McKenzie chose this song to perform together as soon as they begin singing this legendary Irish classic. Their beautiful harmonies full of love and longing, combined with the image of them singing to one other in a field, make this the ideal song to play for your sweetheart.

                    4. Tarzan At The Museum

                        Why you’ll love this:

BYU’s Vocal Point captures the infectious spirit of Tarzan with this incredible music medley shot in a museum! Singing all the epic songs from Disney’s 1999 hit, the boys also employed two talented dancers to act as their Tarzan and Jane! As the boys jump around and expertly harmonize, it’s a lot of fun to watch their version of Tarzan in less than 6 minutes!

                          5. 19 You + Me

                              Why you’ll love this:

You can never go wrong with Peter and Home Free collaboration. This was Peter's first ever Country song performance way back 6 years ago! How time flies!

                                6. A Million Dreams

                                    Why you’ll love this:

From the musical that amazed the world with an incredible soundtrack, One Voice Children’s Choir performs a fantastic tribute to The Greatest Showman. With heavenly harmonies and angelic instrumentation, these talented children sing about the desire to follow their dreams! The music video highlights not just the soloists, but all the kids singing together, furthering the idea of achieving their dreams together.

                                      7. Dear Fear

                                          Why you’ll love this:

Mat and Savanna Shaw do a fantastic job conveying those feelings of vulnerability when it comes to dealing with fear in this poignant original song. Their music video is pure and straightforward; accompanied by a talented pianist, the two write down their sentiments in a journal, finally joining each other side by side on stage as if to say they're in this together. It’s a beautiful song that highlights their bond and songwriting talent.

                                            8. Que Milagro

                                                Why you’ll love this:

Evynne Hollens has released another gorgeous original song, which is also tied to her musical Milagro! Evynne joins Gaby Moreno and Anna Gilbert for Que Milagro, an emotive and tenderhearted song about the miracle of life! The song is just so sweet, with intermittent photos and videos of a baby, and is sure to make you appreciate the significance of life.

                                                Why A Cappella?

by Legendary Vocals October 13, 2021 2 min read

I love a cappella, it’s always been such a big part of my life. I co-founded the group On the Rocks at the University of Oregon, I met my wife through a cappella, and what really put me on the map as a creator was my arrangements and transforming popular songs into a cappella renditions! I wanted to explain kind of why we focus so much on a cappella here at Legendary Vocals and why it’s so important to me and how amazing a cappella truly is.
